Staff Software Engineer, Frontend Platform

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Frontend Platform team, you'll architect and build foundational systems that power the user experience for millions of employees navigating their mental health journey.

About the Role

You'll lead the design and development of core frontend platform infrastructure, mentoring engineers while directly contributing to high-impact systems. This is a staff-level position requiring strategic thinking about frontend architecture, scalability, and developer experience across Modern Health's product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable frontend platform systems that serve as foundational layers for product teams
• Establish best practices, patterns, and tooling for frontend development across the engineering organization
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to frontend engineers at various levels
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve code quality, performance, and maintainability
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to translate requirements into robust frontend solutions
• Contribute directly to feature development while balancing platform work and team growth

Requirements

• 8+ years of frontend software engineering experience, with demonstrated growth into senior/staff-level roles
• Deep expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one major frontend framework (React, Vue, Angular, or equivalent)
• Track record of designing and maintaining large-scale frontend systems serving multiple teams
• Strong mentoring and communication skills with ability to influence across engineering organization
• Experience with frontend performance optimization, accessibility standards, and testing practices
• Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows
