As an Associate Principal - Outcomes Researcher, you'll lead research initiatives to measure and demonstrate the impact of our mental health interventions on employee outcomes and business metrics. This is a remote role based in the US.
About the Role
You'll drive outcomes research strategy and execution, working cross-functionally to design studies, analyze program effectiveness, and generate insights that inform product and clinical decisions. Your work will directly shape how we measure and communicate the value of mental health support to employers and their employees.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead outcomes research studies measuring clinical, behavioral, and business impact of Modern Health's mental health programs
- Develop research methodologies, protocols, and measurement frameworks aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting to quantify program effectiveness and ROI
- Collaborate with clinical, product, and business teams to identify research priorities and translate findings into actionable insights
- Communicate research results to stakeholders including employers, clinicians, and executives through reports, presentations, and publications
- Stay current with mental health outcomes research literature and best practices to advance our evidence base
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in psychology, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience designing and conducting outcomes research in mental health, healthcare, or employee benefits
- Demonstrated expertise in research methodology, statistical analysis, and data interpretation
- Strong understanding of clinical outcomes measurement, validated assessment instruments, and health economics
- Experience working with healthcare data and familiarity with regulatory/compliance requirements (HIPAA preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex research for diverse audiences
- Self-directed, collaborative mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment
